Dining on Queen Victoria
From casual bites to haute cuisine, each day on Queen Victoria unlocks a new culinary adventure. Enjoy the timeless elegance of her fine dining restaurants, the array of dishes at her Lido buffet, or the chance to indulge in hearty pub fare at the Golden Lion pub. Where will you eat first?
As with all Cunard ships, Queen Victoria operates a stateroom-affiliated dining system, whereby your main dining room corresponds to your stateroom grade: Britannia, Britannia Club, Princess Grill or Queens Grill. Guests can dine in their main dining room for all meals of the day, and it's all included in the cruise fare. However these are just the beginnings of what your tastebuds can discover on board Queen Victoria. Read on as we introduce six of our favorite culinary experiences available to guests on Queen Victoria, wherever she sails.
The Britannia Restaurant
This grand two-tiered restaurant is the main dining room for guests staying in Queen Victoria’s Britannia Staterooms. Welcoming diners for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, taking your seat at the linen-dressed tables, always feels like an event. You’ll find a new a la carte lunch and dinner menu to temp you each day of your cruise, always with a choice of meat, fish, and vegan options. Breakfast at the Britannia Restaurant offers a mix of continental and cooked favorites, such as eggs benedict, fresh fruit, and our chef’s signature English breakfast.
The Lido
When you're in the mood for a more informal dining experience, The Lido buffet is sure to appeal. This casual but considered dining spot offers a relaxed approach to dining, with self-service food stations showcasing an array of culinary delights. Whether you're craving something quintessentially British or a dish inspired by the ports on your cruise, you’ll find it here. Hot dishes are updated daily, while fresh hand-rolled sushi and salads are always available at lunchtime. From 3pm, the Lido tempts you with Afternoon Tea favorites, including finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. Towards the end of the evening, the Lido offers a late-night buffet, where you can indulge in one final culinary adventure before retiring to bed.
Afternoon Tea
A much-loved venue on board our Queens, the Queens Room is often the home of our signature Cunard Afternoon Tea, served like clockwork each day across our fleet, though sometimes it may be served in the Britannia restaurant. Either way, this isn't just afternoon tea: this is a spectacle and a show. Take your seat as your wait staff make their entrance to rapturous applause. Then, as a three-string quartet strikes up, enjoy the sense of pageantry as silver platters bearing scones, patisserie, and assorted finger sandwiches, sweep around the room. An unmissable event on any Cunard cruise, be sure to savor each delectable bite as you soak in the ambiance of this timeless ritual.
Steakhouse at the Verandah
If you find yourself seeking an elevated gourmet experience on board Queen Victoria, look no further than The Verandah. This intimate dining venue offers an extraordinary gastronomic experience led by the simplicity of exceptional ingredients. From tiered platters of fruit de mer, laden with oysters, lobster, and crab, to succulent Black Angus and Wagyu steaks, accompanied by your choice of steak knife, each mouthful at The Verandah is a culinary masterpiece. Feast on a symphony of the finest ingredients sourced from land and sea. Will you make this gastronomic discovery a destination on your next Queen Victoria cruise?
The Golden Lion
With its selection of ales and convivial atmosphere, Queen Victoria’s Golden Lion has long been a guest favourite for a relaxed lunch in laidback surroundings. Serving a menu of British pub fare, this homely venue is the perfect place to indulge in a heartier bite to eat on board. From fish and chips to pie and mash, the menu focusses on classic pub staples, executed with finesse, and packed with flavour. Order your favorite tipple to wash it all down, or perhaps try one of the Golden Lion’s signature Bloody Mary’s or a flight of Cunard ales. Just make sure you leave a little room for dessert.
Room Service
Of course one of the most convenient and flexible ways to dine on Queen Victoria (especially if you find yourself craving a bite to eat in the middle of the night) is by ordering room service to your suite or stateroom. Room service on Queen Victoria is available 24 hours a day, completely free of charge. All you need do is pick up the phone and call through your order. The menu includes classic comfort food like burger and fries, as well as more continental favourites. Complimentary breakfast in bed is also available for those mornings when you just want to relax a little longer. Just make your selections and hang on your order on the outside of your stateroom door the night before. Then, sleep soundly, knowing your breakfast will be arrive promptly, at precisely the time you requested it.
Bars and lounges on Queen Victoria
A journey of sophistication and indulgence awaits you at Queen Victoria’s bars and lounges. From classic cocktails and fine wines to global beers and spirits, here’s nine places to raise a glass on board our legendary vessel.
Commodore Club
For a Queen Victoria bar with the best sea views, look no further than the Commodore Club. A sophisticated lounge with picture height windows, the Commodore Club offers ocean panoramas like nowhere else on board. You’ll find this popular bar at the bow of Deck 10, above the Bridge. While a full drinks service is offered, the speciality here is a selection of Commodore cocktails, inspired by seven of our fleet’s most decorated Captains. Canapés are served on early evening visits and the atmosphere here is always one of elegance, with soothing background music courtesy of a live pianist.
Grills Lounge
If you’re staying in Queen Victoria’s Princess Grill or Queens Grill Suites, you’ll have your own private bar to while away an evening in. Reserved purely for guests of these two accommodation tiers, the Grills Lounge can be accessed via a private staircase from Deck 10, or by taking the cloud-motif lift (activated using your Voyage card). Once inside, you’ll find snug sofas and velvety club chairs to curl into as your Grills Lounge bartender mixes up your drink of choice. Coffees and teas are complimentary, but all other drinks are charged per the menu.
Chart Room
Resplendent with its brushed gold accents, the Chart Room’s symmetrical interiors offer a timeless nod to the romance and geometry of Art Deco design. You’ll find this striking bar directly off the Grand Lobby, opposite Steakhouse at The Verandah on Deck 2. It’s a wonderful venue to visit on Gala Evenings when the sight of tuxedo-attired gentlemen and women in evening gowns evokes the spirit of a bygone era. The signature drink selection includes a range of custom cocktails inspired by the Zodiac. Ask the bartender to mix you up your birth sign or defy convention and let your tastebuds choose.
Golden Lion
You’ll find all the warmth and conviviality of a traditional English pub at Queen Victoria’s Golden Lion. With hearty food and beers on draught, a visit here feels just as welcoming as stepping into your local. Relaxed dress is welcome at all times of day, even on Gala Evenings, and there’s live music and pub quizzes to keep you entertained. Well, who doesn’t love a bit of friendly competition? A complimentary menu featuring fish and chips, pie and mash, and our signature Cunard Ploughman’s is available at lunchtimes, while the drinks selection includes a range of Cunard own-brand ales and a choice of Bloody Marys.
Churchill's Cigar Lounge
Named in honor of Sir Winston Churchill, whose penchant for a cigar famously saw him smoke up to ten a day, Churchill’s offers a dedicated space where cigar connoisseurs can light-up in comfort. You’ll find this plush lounge on Deck 10, positioned between the Yacht Club and Commodore Club. Don’t fret if you’ve neglected to pack your own supply, there are plenty of choices to tempt you in the humidor, along with a bar service offering a finely tuned selection of spirits and single malt whiskeys. Sir Winston himself was a regular face on our Transatlantic Crossings and – even now – it’s easy to imagine him here, animatedly putting the world to rights as he indulges his favorite pastime.
Midships Bar
Queen Victoria’s aptly named Midships Bar, located just off the Grand Lobby on Deck 3, specialises in two types of tipple: gin & fizz. Offering a combination of lounge and bar seating (the latter of which fans out like a peacock’s tail feathers) this tucked away venue provides a quiet nook in which to savor a freshly poured drink over conversation. Choose your preference from an array of classic and flavoured gins; our own Cunard 4 Queens varieties included, or perhaps allow the sparkling effervescence of Laurent Perrier Champagne to gently tease your palate. Alternatively, why not plump for one of our gin or champagne based cocktails and enjoy a fresh new take on these two timeless classics. Who knows? You might even discover a new favorite.
Yacht Club
When the rest of the ship is winding down, Queen Victoria’s Yacht Club can always be counted on to keep the party going. Open for Insights talks, choir rehearsals, and dance classes during the day, this nautical themed lounge-bar takes on a whole new persona come nightfall. The home of karaoke and late-night DJs on board, you’ll find the decks spinning at the Yacht Club long after our other bars and lounges have called it a night. Sink into one of the low-slung sofas and tap along to the sounds filling the air or join your fellow revellers on the dance floor, putting all inhibitions aside in true vacation spirit.
Pavilion bar
While night times at Queen Victoria’s Pavilion bar usher in the chance for a stolen moment under the stars, it’s during the day that this poolside retreat really shines. What better vacation feeling could there be than indulging in an al fresco drink as the sun warms your skin? It’s moments like these the Pavilion bar was made for. Be it a cruise of the Mediterranean or somewhere even more exotic, open sky is always within reach here. The drinks selection is equally vacation-ready with beers and wines and a range of No and Low alcohol options. Indulge in the fruity flavors of our Cunard Cooler or the ginger hit of an Atlantic Mist, as you soak up the sunshine in this most serene of outdoor bars.
Winter Garden
Located just off the Pavilion on Deck 9, Queen Victoria’s Winter Garden is the only one of its kind in our fleet, making it a must-visit for a drink on board. Enclosed by a glass atrium, this Mediterranean-style bar and lounge radiates brightness, even on the cloudiest of days. If you want the feeling of being outdoors when you’re indoors, there’s no better place. Light and airy, comforting, and informal, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee during the day or something even stronger a little later in the evening. Quizzes and live music are regular features here and a full drink’s list, featuring a wide range of speciality martinis, ensures you’ve always got something in your glass to whet your whistle.
